Sneak peak

Only a few more days until it’s in my sticky little hands. I’m just hoping what I imagined translates to the real thing. Working with only the textures of bead blast and polishing was a challenge.

For inspiration I looked towards cafe racer motor bikes. I love the minimal and raw esthetic of these bikes. The mix of polished, raw and blasted metals with black is exactly what I have to work with.

Be in it to win it

Can’t say I love it but won’t say no if it’s free.
Wonder how much it would fetch on ebay?

When things don’t do to plan

I had been planning to ride the Grampians National Park for some time. I should have checked to see if the roads were open first.

Zack’s Enigma

I first met Zack back in 2002 when I was shooting BMX photos. He’s a smooth operator on the 20 inch and also likes to build smooth looking road bikes.

Zack blasting a hip back in 2002. He is also pretty handy behind the lens himself. Check out his flickr here.

Less is more I was taught in design school. Zack pieced together a pretty tidy looking ride.

Wouter Weylandt dies

Weylandt dies in stage 3 Giro d’Italia crash.

Read more here

We are all guilty at times of pushing the limit descending mountains, cutting corners and just pushing the limit. Incidents like Wouter’s crash make me reflect on how careless we can be sometimes because we have a momentary laps of reality and think we are in pro tour stage race. Just remember cars hurts, the ground is harder then your bones and you don’t really have the bike control you think you do. Take care on the roads this winter.

Kristof has some great pro cycling photography on his flickr.
