Campy Electronic unveiled
Campy is finally releasing the much anticipated electronic shifting group.
Can’t wait to test it myself, however, I’m yet to be convinced the italians could make better electronic devices then the Japanese. Shimano also has the advantage of an almost 2 year head start. Read more at Bike Rumor
Dirt for days
For those in Melbourne, Sunday was an amazing day for a roll. Shifter Dan showed us the lesser known dirt roads around the Dandenong Ranges. As an ignorant road cyclist I never new these routes existed, often sticking to the more well known loops. It was like riding the Dandenong’s for the first time again.
Pro teams stepping up the design heat.
First Bike Rumor then Brian Nygaard tweeted “Watch this space in future for the coolest team in cycling in 2011”
Is Leopard the new Luxembourg Pro Cycling Team of Frank Schleck, Stuart O’Grady, Jakob Fuglsang and Jens Voigt? I hope so and I really want them to follow through with the feeling of this splash page.
No need for words
Baum have been killing it of late. If you were lucky enough to see the Baum display at the World Champs you would have seen these in the flesh.
They have also launched a new website.
I’ll hopefully be meeting with the Baum guys soon for a little more insight into the company and process.
The reference to vintage design combined with Baum’s attention to detail makes pure lust.

I play with pictures not words
Sometimes I wish I could communicate with just pictures. I can watch hours of recorded footage and edit it down to a tangible idea, but find writing 100 words once a week for a blog post the most difficult task. I’ll hopefully get better and write something worth reading, but for the meantime pictures will have to be suffice.

Kinglake , I’m glad winter has passed.
Nevada Desert, hot as hell. (from shape of things)

A remote control helicopter with a camera rig is a sure way to add instant epicness. Even a hairy hipster on a fixed gear doing 5kph up a 3% incline looks good.
Great Ocean Road Classic
We had a blast filming the Great Ocean Road Classic, although it was a hectic couple of days. The only bummer about the weekend was wanting to ride aswell. It’s not the same when you are chasing riders around the countryside, finding a magic spot, setting up the camera then back in the car to do it again.
Cycling Tips has a course wrap up.
Here are some sneak peak video stills from the GORC footage. Can’t wait to start editing the pieces together.

IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY
Are custom frames worth it? I personally own two customs, and I’m 99% sure I would be happy riding an off the self carbon bike, if I had to. So why bother with lengthy wait times and financial outlay? I think it’s a genetic predisposition of mine, of wanting something unique, that drives me towards custom bikes.
Most custom frame owners talk about the great ride of steel or titanium, and how perfect the custom bike fits blah blah blah. Lets be honest with ourselves boys and girls, what we really want to say is “I have something you don’t, so lust all you want”. It’s all about stroking the ego not the cranks. So the next time you are passed by a rider twice your age, on a bike half the price, gently caress your top tube and remind yourself how good you look.
